CTAC Speaks on Agile Development at ACT-IAC Emerging Technology SIG

CTAC News and Events

The Agile approach to development has existed in several forms since the mid-1990s. Only recently, though, has it become more mainstream within the Federal government. As Information Technology (IT) programs are coming under heavy scrutiny to deliver tangible results using shorter development cycles, the adoption of Agile approaches, such as XP or Scrum, is proving to have positive impacts on program success.

The agenda for this program provided attendees with a brief and meaningful education on Agile and an open dialogue with industry and government on the challenges and benefits of using the various Agile approaches for implementing IT initiatives.

We highlighted case studies ranging from organizations that are in the early adoption stages of using Agile to organizations that are well versed and have made it a standard. Each discussed their progress with using Agile, sharing their perspective on how best to leverage this emerging trend in IT systems development and management.

The event took place Thursday, April 21, 2011 8:30 – 11:00 AM at Capitol Decisions, Inc. at 101 Constitution Avenue, NW, Suite 675 EAST, Washington, DC 20001 USA, and was sponsored by Emerging Technologies Special Interest Group (SIG) under the American Council for Technology - Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC).

Speakers:
Vanessa Stone, former Branch Chief of Global Support Services at the Defense Intelligence Agency
Andre McMillan, Program Manager Portal Technologies at Communications Analysis Training Corporation
