Training Management System (TMS)

As an example of CTAC TMS, the following is offered. CTAC helped to develop and manage the National Education Training Management System for the Environmental Management (EM) Operation of the Department of Energy (DOE). This involved surveying the DOE complex and determining the needs in the various competencies and technical fields, evaluating the availability of courses throughout the academic world to satisfy the needs, and engaging various University and Technical Schools to provide training. We developed DOE specific courses in DOE operations where none existed. We developed a database of all DOE personnel skill levels and training progress toward achieving a competency goal. We also created and maintained a curriculum catalogue on the Web for access by all students or potential students.

Computer-Based Training (CBT)

CTAC develops customized computer-based training programs that educate, train, and certify
personnel working at every level of training. Our training expertise and technical knowledge combined with our creative use of graphics, 3D animation, digital video, photography, and audio, enable us to produce exceptional interactive multimedia programs. We produce traditional CD-ROM training as well as web-based training.(Please see our courseware development section for more information.)

Traditional Classroom Training

CTAC has developed and packaged many training courses in the traditional fashion with instructors, training aids, student manuals, tests, and student evaluations. Of significant note is a course for training students in the Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) for both the US Navy (world-wide) and the DOE (Washington D.C.
area). CTAC develops courseware using internal Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for technical correctness and Instructional System Developers (ISD) for the analysis of what to train and the methods of training to be employed. Most ISD has been based on the requirements of MIL- STD 1379. Interactive courseware development maximizes training effectiveness while minimizing development costs. CTAC has on staff several stand up instructors.
